Joy of Flowers

Spring officially arrived this week, and we're celebrating with a new collection of florals by artist Hedi Moran.  Ms. Moran is a native of Norway, now living in Scottsdale, AZ.  She's in Charleston this week, teaching a 5-day oil painting workshop (sponsored by Indigo Fine Art Gallery) with students from around the country.

This Friday, March 23, come to Indigo Fine Art Gallery and meet the artist (5-8pm)!  We'll have the French doors open to the courtyard, and we'll toast Hedi and her show with champagne and chocolate covered strawberries!

Motown!

"Set Me Free, Why Don't You Babe?" by the Supremes (oil  10 x 8) by Judith Perry

Perry says, “Art making requires passion.  It's like dancing.  It's something you feel and have to express.  Having been raised in the staid southwest corner of the state of Washington, my life was isolated from the broader world.  As a teen, I first heard the music of Motown…soul music.  Soul music was an obvious display of passion and it expressed in word and sound what I felt about visual art.  As I developed formally as an artist at the School of the Art Institute in Chicago, the emphasis was on figure drawing.  To me the human form is the ultimate landscape.  It carries undulating curves, sharp forms, and multiple colors. “

Indigo Fine Art Gallery will host a reception for Judith Perry on Friday, November 4 (5-8pm).  Visitors to the show will witness the passion of soul music merged with the visual form.  The titles of Perry’s new pieces reflect the moods of this expressive music.

Wonderful home for our paintings!

"Constant Affirmations" (acrylic mixed media) by Helen K. Beacham
When the sunset glows through the window on the right, this painting lights up the dining room!

"Charleston Bride" (oil) by Paula Lonneman
Perfect combination of elegance and "casual" - this painting completes the composition near the piano.

Two more of Paula Lonneman's oil paintings add a personal touch to the  bar area in the Smiths' Charleston home.

Oils on Copper!

We are proud to be the only gallery who exclusively represents Kent Lovelace's artwork on the East Coast.  Please enjoy reading about his technique of painting luminescent oils on copper, as documented in an interview with The Artist's Magazine.
